Excellent article, but I am having trouble ordering photos online and in store from Sam’s Target etc. Online the photos upload fine but only a handful will move to my album to edit and order them.
In the store, most of the pictures I have taken live and then turned the live off, show as an Unsupported photo and I cannot order them. HELP!

There can’t really be any simplification because the Golden Ratio isn’t an equation, nor is it advanced math of any sort, it’s just a number. It is equal to approximately 1.618. More precisely it is equal to the square root of 5 divided by 2, plus one.

A ratio is just a number defined in such a way as to contrast two parts of a whole. For instance, a widescreen monitor usually has a ratio of 16:9 — i.e., it is 9 units tall for every 16 units wide. An equivalent way to say this would be to say that widescreens have a ratio of 1.77 (1.77 units wide for every 1 unit tall). So then what the Golden Ratio says is, for instance, that instead of placing an element on one of the thirds, 66.6666% of the way from one side of the frame, you should position it 61.8% of the way from one side of the frame.

I feel confident in saying that this isn’t any more advanced, or complicated, than thirds — just very slightly different aesthetically.

Photo editor the 2018 edition: Carbon, Filmborn and Darkr. I still use the “old horses” Pixlr and Hipstamatic as well.

WOW!! So many little things I didn’t know that will improve my photo capturing 1000%
