I am not new to Instagram but I am not good at it. I have posted all kinds of pictures— family, travel, cars, landscaping, and pretty much everything I thought good, fun, and whatever. I should be more selective from now on.

Isn’t the best protection to post your photos at a low 72dpi which is all that’s necessary for viewing on the web? If the image is captured and edited at hi res, it should still be viewable at a large full screen size but if also saved at 72dpi and shared on the web, and someone tries to steal it, they could only get a very small image in hi res quality. A watermark can easily be cropped out of an image if someone really wants to steal it, but it does add an additional layer of identification that the image belongs to the one who posted it.

Glad you enjoyed the article, Joanna! 🙂 I pretty hard to completely protect your images on the Internet. If you’re very concerned about it, you can add a little watermark on your image.

I have already used several of your suggestions (I was set to private). Do anyone have any thoughts about possible copyright issues and posting pics on Instagram?
